The History of Fireworks
7th CenturyIt is believed to be that the Chinese were the original creators of the firework almost two thousand years ago.[1] These fireworks were mainly made up of a combination of materials including, sulfur, potassium nitrate, honey, and arsenic.[1] Their original use however, was not for entertainment, but rather to scare away evil spirits.

13th CenturyAt this time, fireworks had just been introduced to Europe by Marco Polo. Europeans were extremely intrigued by the firework and immediately sought ways to improve the technology of fireworks. Soon fireworks would be displayed massively to all sorts of socio economic classes.

21st CenturyCurrently, fireworks are being used around the world mainly for entertainment purposes. The invention of fireworks led humans to experiment further with gunpowder. This led to the discovery of rockets, grenades, and other explosive devices including guns. By now, we have also discovered how to make fireworks colorful by adding different metals.
